Lilly Maetzig 

Lilly Maetzig is a New Zealand born potter, based in south east London. Her brand, Mae Ceramics, was started in 2014 after graduating art school - swapping the decorative and fine art world for humble and functional pottery. She is mostly self taught. 

She makes mostly functional pieces and uses sharp lines and a limited colour palette to bring a stillness to her work. The majority of pieces are made on the pottery wheel, but handbuilding makes an appearance now and again as a way to explore the medium and different forms.  Her work is a conversation of the raw and unglazed clay, and the natural beauty of the materials show through the surfaces on her finished pieces. 

A big part of Lilly's practice is teaching - whether in person or online, she loves to share her knowledge and passion of her craft.
