Michelle Mtinsi
Michelle is a local potter based in London, creating hand-thrown functional tableware on the potter's wheel.
Her earliest memory of clay goes back to her hometown of Bulawayo in Zimbabwe, where she used to make small mud pots with her mum to play house with. Since then, she has continued to build on skills and knowledge in ceramics. As well as having her own practice, she has also assisted a number of established potters since obtaining a BA in Ceramic Design.
Her work is influenced by simple and playful shapes, most recently incorporating her love of collecting shells on the beach. Each piece is intimate and unique, with the addition of subtle surface textures and lingering marks captured in the throwing process.
