PORCELAIN WITH CHRIS KEENAN | INTERMEDIATE
Taught by Guest Potter Chris Keenan - Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th of February from 11:00 to 17:00
Chris Keenan has been making pots for over twenty-five years. He started as Edmund de Waal’s first apprentice in 1995. Since 1998, he has had his own studio, sharing it with Brazilian potter Carina Ciscato for the past 20 years.
Chris works with Limoges porcelain, using glazes like tenmoku, celadon, red, and green. His pieces are thrown and turned on the wheel and reduction-fired in a gas kiln. He creates items for interior use and decoration, such as mugs, cups, teapots, and lidded pots. He also makes non-functional “extra-curricular” work, recently exploring “scapes” with visual narratives.
He exhibits widely in the UK and internationally, with his work in collections at the V&A, the Ashmolean, and the Mashiko Museum of Ceramic Art in Japan. Chris has undertaken residencies in the UK and Japan and has been teaching in the UK and abroad since 2011.
